Second Grade Day on the Bay - April 29, 2009

The weather was sunny and warm, the tide was low, -1.2 at about 11:00 am. The entire second grade from South Prairie Elementary School participated in the annual Second Grade Day On The Bay on Netarts Bay, and the event came off with hardly a hitch. Tillamook High School students from Mrs. Radcliffe’s biology class were trained as mentors to interact with the second graders and explain the wonders of intertidal biology. By the end of the day, the young students were wet and sandy, but also thrilled and inspired. The following pictures tell the story.

We at WEBS would like to thank the following organizations and people for helping with this event:
The teachers of South Prairie Elementary School
Tillamook High School, especially Melissa Radcliffe, her biology students, and Clair Thomas, Natural Resouces Coordinator
Tillamook Estuaries Partnership, particularly Claudine Rehn
The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, particularly Ron Rehn
